What type of wood did you use for the mantel? I love the contrast of the painted finish with the natural look of the wood mantel. Great job!

Hi, sorry we didn't answer this question earlier. But the wood in the middle is rough cedar. It was whitewashed and then sanded back down and stained a bit more. It was custom done for us by a local craftsman in Atlanta. We achieved this through an experiment. So, I encourage playing around to get a look you want!
