shrub rose 'Champlain'.......

approximately a month ago, i transplanted my shrub rose (due to neighbors trees shading the shrub during the mid-day). to make a long story short, the main stem is approximately 8-10" tall now, and has produced some new growth with a number of blooms. the new growth does look much healthier.

the one thing i have noticed, is that half of the established crown is dead---the new growth is coming out of only one side of the crown. in other words, it appears as if the plant has started over. just wondering if this shrub rose will eventually "fill out"---looking like a "normal" shrub rose? or, is there some concerns here?

maybe a dumb question(s), but, i have not had much luck with roses---still consider myself a "newbie".
