A sad story.

Unfortunately with this post, I have to report a sad happening. Sicle/Popsicle/Poppysicle has gone to fishy heaven.

I'm not exactly sure what happened. One day Sicle was swimming around his tank gobbling up his food and all looked fine, the next morning, he didn't come out to greet me....I was very concerned. He was laying on the bottom. I could not see a mark on him anywhere.....no signs of illness, just that he was on the bottom. I did several water changes over the next 3 or 4 days. With the water changes, he started comming out and swimming around. I thought he was improving, but he wasn't. My best guess was that he had an internal bacterial infection, that I couldn't see. :-((

Aww. Remember, it's not always your fault. Just like people (even more so due to all the breeding for color and finage), fish can have defects that just can't be fixed or even detected.

Hi all, some new faces here, nice to see.

Sicle was a single tail goldfish...actually he turned pure white. I had rescued him a few years ago, when a friend of mine bought a house. There was a small bath tub pond there....and winter had set in and the pond was starting to freeze over.....It had thawed and she saw movement...until then, she thought it was empty. She remembered to call about a week or two later when she remembered it again.....so I trudged out in the snow and lifted inches of ice off the pond to recue this poor fish, as this little pond was going to freeze solid. It was supposed to be a temporary home to start.....but he had such fishinality that he found his way into our hearts. He lived here for a few years.

The tank sat empty for a few weeks...but I finally added a couple of new fishinalities.....they are going through their adjustment period and settling in...

Just signing on after being too busy before T-day.

Sierra!! I'm so sorry about Poppy. :( He was the best best goldfish on this board!! And I know he would have loved some guppy chums, too.

    Did you get more goldies?

I'm sure Popsicle is now having lotsa fun with my various koi (who became lunch for the stinky raccoons in the area!!) up in that big pond in the sky.

    Hi Skygee,

Ya I finally bought two baby ryukins. One is solid gold, and the other is red and white.(well for now) I am waiting till, I am sure they are completely healthy before they get names. They have quite different fishinalities, I have noticed already. These little guys are also noticably growing in just the little over a week that they have been here. They are starting to come out to the front to greet me now when I get near the tank. This I am very glad to see because they were so skiddish at first. I am not used to skiddish fish.

I'm sure there will be stories and a more formal introduction, once they get settled more and the antics begin. ;-)

    Sicle is definately missed! :-(
