That's no problem, I've done it multiple times with saltwater fish. I've also ordered online with overnight delivery, no problems.

If your transporting freshwater fish, that's even easier than saltwater. I would highly recomend putting the bags in a cooler. The cooler will help hold a more constant temp in the bags.

All will be fine, just try not to have big temp swings between lfs tank temp, and transport temps.

I don't know how you "freshwater folks" acclimate, but with saltwater.... If the temp is not more than a few degs, I float the bag in my QT tank. I start dripping tank water into the bag and after around 30 minutes, add the fish.

If the temp is way out of wack, it goes into a seperate container that is just big enough to hold the bag. I drip for a few minutes, then stop for a few. The container is in a heated area, just not heating as rapidly as being in tank water. Usually takes a couple hours, but never lost a fish either way.

You'll be just fine. Just remember, fish are shipped by truck and by plane over a few days. make sure the fish at your lfs have been in the tank for several days and eating good before you purchase.
