I read somewhere about someone putting window screens over the sown seeds. Which reminds me...I just put a window screen in the trash. Time to go get it! LOL.

there are many things. I like the sprinkle fake urine granules. They deter animals because they think a predator is there. May work for your pests.

My one dog always pulled the spikes out of the centers of my containers. I'd see her romping around the yard swinging the thing around. I asked at the garden place what I could use and another customer overheard me and suggested red pepper flakes. Just sprinkle them on the dirt. They've stopped the dog cold because she sniffs before she grabs and she doesn't like the smell of the pepper. It also works for keeping them from using certain areas of the yard for their latrine.

Last year all my spikes survived so I figure it works. I get a big, 12 oz. container of the flakes at Redner's for about $2.50 (much cheaper than even BJ's.)
