Another convert!

Hi, Everyone! I've been reading this forum daily since January, so I figured it was time to poke my head up and say "howdy!"

I think this forum might be contagious, because now that I've read all of your postings and seen the pictures of your containers and the resultant gardens, WSing is all I want to do! I just can't seem to stop buying dirt or browsing the seed racks for good WS candidates. And I've taken to eating cold suppers because my kitchen is full of containers, potting mix and seed packets. Seriously, I get to work (should be getting ready to go now, in fact), and all I think about during the day is "X more hours and I can go home and play!"

Funny how such a small notion - "hmm, the stuff I actually planted last spring didn't do nearly as well as the stuff that sowed itself last fall...wonder if you can do that in containers. Better check the internet..." - led to such an amazing discovery.

You all are awesome and I'm hooked!

Umm...and now I have to haul buns or I'll be late for work :)

LOL!! And ITA. Im not sure how I found out about this forum, probably just surfing for gardening tips, and now that I have found it I too am addicted. I went to Walmart to stock up on 10 and 30 cent seeds, even though I havent sown all the seeds that Trudi and Bakemom so graciously gave a newbie. I am forcing more milk on the kids just so I can have the jug. I go out compulsively and am searching for green. I am thinking of raiding the neighbors's recycling bins just like Bakemom. *sigh*

Hi, I am Betsy and I am a WSaholic.:)

    Thanks for the welcome!

I've been getting crazy with turning things into containers - we had a potluck at work last week, and someone brought in a deli veggie tray - deepish compartments around the ring and one in the center. Got some funny looks when I washed it up and trotted home with it!

I'm trying all kinds of containers right now. I've got seed flats (probably too shallow, but I was just starting then), milk jugs, foil pans and baggies. Just trying to figure out which ones work best for certain plants. As a one-woman household, I'll have to save milk jugs all year, or hope my family continues to indulge the crazy daughter/granddaughter/niece who rummages through their recycling bins!

Have fun, picotee! Really the forum is a great place with some wonderful folks. I am a double addict... with the "seed exchange" forum as well. I have received seeds in trades that I never would have thought to buy but have become fixtures in my garden. It's nice to be surprised every once in a while, and these two forums certainly give that. Once again, thanks to all who give so freely.
    Peace

    Welcome from another WS newbie!

But I must object to the some of the language being used on this thread - "contagious"? "Double addict"? You guys make it sound like it's a sickness or something!

Signed Terrene, a gardening enthusiast (interpretation: addict) who was ingrigued by the enthusiasm of Winter-sowers on other forums and decided to check it out and discovered that it was very inspiring (interpretation: contagious). Heehee!

Oh, you said it moonphase!! I've found myself wondering over to the seed exchange now in hopes of finding "kiss me over the garden gate" It seems that plant is my next "holy grail" and I must posess it!!! I've found two online sources but must be careful about leaving a paper trail( DH asking JUST how much have you spent so far?!?) LOL
I might do it anyway and give up my daily mountain dew....for a week....B

Hee! I *have* been posting in and reading this forum more than I've e-mailed my family! That's it; first year in, and I'm already a hopeless case! Maybe they'll forgive me when I start bombarding them with plant offers.

And now I've got to go, because I've been reading all of your wonderful posts, and if I don't leave NOW I'll be late for work! : ) You all are so wonderful, it's hard to leave the forum!

Brandymulvane, if you want the regular KMOTGG (polygonium orientale), I have those and will be glad to send you some, and just about anything else on my list, for postage. They do need stratification, so if you still have "winter" there, you should be able to get them to sprout. My KMOTGG seeds have already sprouted in 7b.
