are you asking about trees that are ID'd so you might look toward purchase... then you need an arboretum ....

if you mean great vistas of mother nature in her glory ... try northern MI .... perhaps a trip around lake MI .. up toward traverse city ....

if you are talking within IL .. i have no clue ....

what you need is some terrain with hills for long views ....

Thanks to both of you. I've been to Starved Rock but not in fall.

That place Dax recommended looks like a great spot. I didn't know where Galena is located until I looked it up in Bing, but it's in the part of the state I'd recommend along with the southern part around the Carbondale area or the Shawnee National Forest.
