Hi Gina,

They should be OK and should bloom next year. If they are in deep shade they may have some problems. If they are in dense shade, I suggest pruning the tree branches that are shading them up so that they just have "high shade".

You should be seeing lots of new growth coming out now or very soon. It will take a while, but should end up a very nice plant. Be very careful of the plants health. They need good drainage and mulch. If the leaves are not a nice shade of green, then it may need some increased acidity, or some nutrients. Since you are trying to stimulate it to grow back, I suggest that you use some HollyTone at half the rate on the package now and only once every year or two. They don't need much feeding if any.

Rhodyman, You have made my day. I am so happy to hear I did not inihilate these 2 poor plants. I am seeing some growth at the base of each one. Since I lopped off everything but the several thickest coming from the trunk of it I was so upset with myself. I will await next years blooms and do as you said. Thank you for taking the time to help me with this. I so appreciated it.
