I have Xanthosoma wendlandii, which resembles that fairly closely, the leaf shape is different, and it has all green as opposed to patterened stems.
Wendlandii goes dormant in winter even in zone 11+ conditions

Not quite as decorative but that is still really rather nice, does wendlandii grow well outdoors in summer months, ok, you're in FL so i guess most things do, or is it better grown as a house plant?

I have only ever had it "out", and because it goes dormant naturally, (its starting to die back now) it is never affected by any frost we have. But, the ground never freezes here, so that may have something to do with it.
The first season I had it I kept it in a container and didn't know it went dormant. It started to wilt and die back in September, and I thought, GREAT its DYING. So being the lazy person I am I just left the container out on the porc all winter. I was surpeised to see the plant come back up bigger and better the next spring. Its continued to do that ever since. I finally planted it in the greenhouse, even though I didn't need to, around the pond because it looks neat in with my huge Lasia spinosas as a backdrop there while its up. When its dormant I can set a pot o' something "not hardy" over it for the winter.
