Good Day!

Im Mario from the Philippines.

Im a Interior Designer in Profession and selling plants is our family business and hobby.

And I just want to share my pictures of my anthuriums we also sell them as potted flowering anthurium plants.

Medium (1:1:1)

-Rice Hull - Rice is the staple food in the Philippines hence the rice hull is a waste product in rice production. But rice hulll is very important growing medium/mulch in Horticulture in South East Asia.

-Chop coconut Husk (cube into 1 cm x 1cm) - This medium retains moisture and this medium is very abundant & popular in the Philippines and Thailand.

-Volcanic Cinder (from Pinatubo Volcano) - Since Philippines is in Pacific Ring of Fire volcanic cinder is very easy to find.

Fertilizer

-Slow release fertilizer (Brand: Osmocote)

Pot

- 6" Diameter plastic pot

Wow! I've never seen one with those colors on the blooms before. What beautiful plants you have!

This one is more ordinary but available in stores here. I would have gotten one like yours instead if they had those.

Thanks for the response. But the way I also like your Anthurium plant. But I can see that your potted anthurium already have a sucker (Baby anthurium) on side and top. So that you can propagate your anthurium plant. And I sew your blog also it is fun to read all the updates about your plant.

Mario, thanks, what a nice thing to say!

Yes, I have noticed the babies forming at the sides and look forward to separating this plant in the spring to share with others. I've really been enjoying this plant because I've killed several of these before and I had been thinking they just don't like me, or I don't have what it takes to make this plant happy. But after learning more about soil structures and applying that to my pots and plants, I've been having great success even with plants I thought I couldn't grow.

If you have some, I would love to see pics of your plants at the crown, where the new leaves and flowers are still curled up.

Hi purpleinopp!
I wish you can share the updates of your baby Anthurium (Suckers) to some of our members. And share your knowledge on how to grow them in your area. Because its is really totally different if you grow a Anthurium plant here in tropics than to a Temperate area. I remember my aunt gives me a Hybrid Califonia Tea Rose from Vallejo California. The result is really disapointing here in our area because the temperature & humidity is too high.
Ok tomorrow or the next day I will share my photo of my anthuriu, with the crown where the new leaves are curled up. By the way I want to share my secret to you in growing Anthurium I think high humidity is very important and also temperature requirement 18C (night) & 27C (day) and also dont let the direct sunlight touch the leaves, young leaves and flower so that it wont burn. And never over water the Anthurium to prevent rotting and built up of Fungus.
And make sure that the medium is also very clean, good sanitation is very important to healthy plants.
