It's not a silly question at all - but you can't keep a rose as a houseplant. Store it in an unheated, attached garage, in the dark, for the winter after letting it go dormant (sometime in November), or in a shed protected with bags of leaves, or bury the pot in the garden until the spring.

When I got my first tree rose years ago, I was so afraid that it would just die in my garage that I brought it in for the winter..that poor thing had the longest,splindliest growth..it was awful..i didn't do it any favors..they really don't like being in the house! Just winter it in your garage or unheated basement and it will do much better than you'd think! just be careful in the spring to bring it in when the temps dip, or it will kill off the tender new growth. If your sunroom is used for other sun loving plants in the winter, they may be OK, If you can regulate the temperature so it's a bit cooler in that room and add humidity so it's not dry like most heated air is. you may be able to overwinter a potted rose in your sunroom.
I have a friend with a sunroom that stays cooler. Its windows face West, South, and North. She has French doors she can close so added humidity and the cooler air doesn't enter the rest of the house and visa versa. She grows all manner of plants there including late purchased roses. She pots bareroot roses in February that grow well there until she can plant them outdoors in April and May.
Ifyou manage to grow it inside and it's healthy when you plant it outdoors the following spring, it won't die the next winter unless you don't provide some sort of winter protection in your very cold zone 4.
In your zone, you should provide some sort of winter protection unless you grow Canadian Explorers or other Canadian roses that are hardy to minus 40, otherwise you'll lose most roses during winter.
