everybody into the pool?

I seem to remember someone once posting about leaving for a vacation and putting the pot ghetto residents in a kiddie pool with a few inches of water.

I am going away for a bit, and the gentleman who is checking my hens is most definitely not one to take on the task of watering...

There are about ten pots, varying sizes.

I thought I would put down a layer of newspaper so that the pool plastic doesn't get accidently cut, put in 1/2" diameter dowels (left over from a long gone drying rack), sit the pots on those so that their drain holes aren't stuck flat to the bottom, then fill with a few inches of water.

I am going to pop in my hibiscus, too; the jade plant and Christmas cactus should be ok for the length of time I'm going to be gone.

Has anyone tried this?
