I read somewhere, that if you have a big yard and don't want to always be carrying hand tools around - put in a mailbox at the other side of the yard with a few tools in it for handy gardening.

I am going to do that in my veggie garden area.

Last year my daughter bought me a beautiful hand painted mailbox. It has flowers and hummingbirds painted on it and the colors in it match the trim on my house. I put the mailbox on a wooden post and painted it the same color as my trim. It's at the end of our patio and I use it to store hand tools, gloves, small containers of fertilizer, etc. It's very decorative and useful too. I love it!

Hey everybody!

I just found this forum - and I am so glad it's here! Just wanted to let you know that even an old beat up mailbox can made into an attractive tool holder - just sand and paint - I'm no artist, but I used some acrylic paints to add some very simple flowers and vines. The only problem is the birds usually use it for a home before I can use it for tools. That's O.K., too!
