Need help with Fall Planting

I've been growing roses for 23 yrs. and have over 100 in my beds. I'm in a cold zone which is actually zone 4. I celebrated my 75th birthday, and my daughter ordered 2 rose bushes from JP for fall delivery and planting.

I plant with the root junction buried at least 4" and cover with a hard wood mulch wich is at least 6" high. I add at least 50% potting soil to the dirt from the hole and pack arround the new plant.

During the growing season I fertilize monthly with Osmocote, and I also have granular 10/10/10. I stop fertilizing by the end of August. It usually doesn't snow before Xmas but gets realy cold in Jan. commonly below zero.

Should I add any fertilizer when I plant in the fall; if so Osmocote or granular? Or should I expect the potting soil will do the job over the winter and fertilize when I see growth in the spring.

One is a floribunda and the other a grandiflora.
