Well, congratulations on your new rose garden!

And you have 'reasons' why you have these orphans. So, I bet you'll be able to find the perfect place for them at some point. And, you know you're not alone here! lol

Besides, that's what winter's for - planning another garden to put the orphans and want-to-acquires! :)

I know how this happens. They are so irresistable, so lovely. To me every new rose is like an expression of hope. This makes it very hard to stop.

Well, dang. I spent Saturday watching my husband dig out the roses I'd grown from cuttings started last fall, and rummaging around in my pot ghetto pulling out more roses and irises to give to friends I was going to visit. I encouraged my husband with the idea of how many roses we were going to be free of, how much smaller the pot ghetto would be, how much more garden area we'd for for, ah, rose cuttings that I want to start this fall. The pots filled the car, leaving just room for the driver. Away I went. Back I came with--surprise!--two or three flats of baby perennials and shrubs and two bags of various pieces of plants, and even a new rose. Well! This is how it happens. I'm the happiest gardener in the world, except for you, of course.

It is science....the Pot Ghetto grows on the basis of the scientific principle that "Nature hates a Void" and since the pot you pull out to plant is larger naturally it has to be replaced with 2 smaller ones-if the planted deghettoed rose is very large..well 3 or maybe even 4. There is absolutely nothing to be done about it..you accept it like chickweed or rain. A relatively benign expression of the natural order of things.
