Deb, post this on the Mississippi/Loyuisiana forum. Someone there probably has some sections they will send you. Ask for someone in the Vacherie, LA area. There are huge cane fields at the end of the Mississippi River bridge @ Vacherie and that is only 30 miles from New Orleans.

if you can wait until fall, the syrup soppin' festival occurs each october in beautiful, downtown loachapoka, al. *lol*
they make cane syrup here on-site, complete with syrup mill and mule, bluegrass music, antiques, crafts, barbecue and lotsa traffic problems in this little wide spot in the road.
this is in lee county, near auburn, if you are close enough for a day trip and you can "sop 'til you drop", as they say.
