That's cool! We put up a bat house, nailed to a tree last year but I think it may have been too late or it's hanging too low. I don't think there are any bats in there, but it's hard to tell. I haven't seen any fly out or go in. Your post and getting my first mosquito bites Saturday reminds me to look into it. Do you have a bat house or were these rogue visitors?

I have wanted a bat house but only have one tree on my property and it is in my front yard.These were rogue visiters who visit every evening. I have some very large bats come by. Not sure what kind they are but they swoop down and get very close to you. Fun to watch.

I sincerely hope you bat lovers are aware of the extreme danger from rabies that bats pose to humans and other mammals--_Homo sapiens_, or not. The battery of shots used to prevent the development of rabies in a human who has had the misfortune of being bitten by a rabid animal may not be as horrid an ordeal as in decades past; but the regimen is certainly not a walk in the park.

Agree! We are just observers and have an appreciation for one of natures less popular animals.
