This isn't a gathering of plant snobs, plant geeks, or "know-it-alls". It's a bunch of down-to-earth people who love to garden and share their experience and knowledge.

If you haven't attended, you will be pleasantly surprised by how quickly and easily you meet people and become friends.

Wayne is right. Whether you have anything to trade or not, grab a 6 pack of Pepsi and a bag of chips and come meet us and join us for lunch. Put faces with the names. These are incredibly nice and generous folks. This online community of mostly urbanites may be as close to the rural community relationships of historical Alabama as you will find today.

I got an e-mail about this. I will try VERY hard to get there. I have some oleander thst my DIL has potted up. I will bring those. Caroline

Linda, we always meet in the parking lot near the BMX bike trail. We just take our chances with picnic tables.

None of the nuts that come to our plant swap bits. We have some of the best people in Al. We have had visitors from Ohio, Ga. and Tenn. that I know of. We all like to help new gardeners, but we like to get sosmething back. I bet you could go to Walmart and buy 10 bags of Munure or such and trade all of them for plants that you can't get anywhere.When I started going(the first swap), I thought I had everything I wanted. I found out real quick that there is a lots of plants I want and I have been getting them through my friends at the swap. Come on and be a friend.

So right....although I missed the last 2, the ones I have been to were so memorable. Everyone was soooo nice. And so willing to share!

I have many plants in my garden now due to these swaps. And lots of times when I look at them I think of the person who gave it to me!

Plants can be so expensive and this trade takes some of that burden off. And it is especially rewarding for new gardeners.!!
