Black snake won't hurt you, you might hurt yourself trying to get away from it. But if you just can't handle it, get you hubby to catch it and put it in somewhere else.

Harmless snakes are so beneficial to us, but they sure do scare us half to death, don't they? I planted some pompous grass at the edge of our property some time back, and it has been a home to little green snakes from time to time. It hides them, cools them on warm days, and warms them on cold days. They, in turn, make sure no little furry things come near the house. Since I planted the grasses far enough away from the house, our "guests" and the family hardly every see one another.

snakes are an important part of the environment. if you don't want to catch and remove him try calling a few agencies like fish and wild life reserve or even the humane society, or a county extention office. if they wont come and remove it they can usually send you to someone who will if you talk to enough people. if it is a black racer, it is more afraid of you than you are of it. good luck!
