The local Hydrangea Society is having a tour of 4 gardens in the Birmingham area on Saturday, June 18. Eddie and Kay Aldridge (Going south on Highway 280 and I believe it is in Highland Lakes), Wendy White in Mountain Brook, myself on Shades Mountain in Hoover near the Alford Ave. exit off I-65 and another in Pelham (I believe it is in Pelham) will have their gardens on this tour. There may also be another organization that will have Birmingham area gardens on tour. I am not sure of the date....The local Hydrangea Society is also taking a bus to tour some gardens in Atlanta on Saturday, June 11. Jasmine Hill Gardens, which closed several years ago, is open thru 4/9/05 on Fridays and Saturdays - they have done this the past couple of years.

The special spring opening of Jasmine Hill Gardens, Alabama's own little spot of Greece, will coincide with the peak blooming season of Japanese cherry trees and azaleas. The Birmingham Botanical Society is hosting the Glorious Garden tour of residential gardens(usually 5 or 6) on May 14 and 15. Tickets are $25 and you can call 205-414-3950 for more info. I have been to this tour several times in the past and have never been disappointed. I always bring home some ideas for my garden.
