I was going to ask the same thing...I live in huntsville area...heard the low tommorrow could be 38. Any tips on how to protect my first ever veggie garden...I just set out the plants this week.

I'm going to put flower pots over my newly-set-out tomato plants. I think they'll be ok.

what about house plants?? i have all of mine on my porch....palms, scheffeleras, ficus, rubber tree, ferns....will they survive the cold temps for the next couple of nights?

I brought in what could be...then covered the rest with bedsheets, pillowcases and the like.

If your houseplants have been in all winter I would suggest bringing em in. I all but killed a gorgeous Philedendron I have had for 7 years by leaving it out on a cold night.

My house plants have been in all winter..so rather than take a chance, i just moved all back inside the house...except for a large palm that is on a balcony on the upper level...hope the cold doesnt affect it....it is a beautiful large palm almost 5 ft tall...too heavy and big for me to bring back in by myself....hope the temp doesnt dip down as low as they are predicting....

I hope it doesn't either. They're predicting possible patchy frost for some of the northern areas. I'm going to pile up all my potted stuff in the laundry room just to be safe.

Just removed all the sheets. Boy am I glad I went to all the trouble! They were all covered by a thick frost! Nothing seems to have suffered except for one of my tomatoes...I think it's possible it's someting else though. One of it's leaves has folded in half and turned kinda crunchy. Don't have much experience so I guess I'll be busy researching online today.

I covered my tropicals that I planted in the ground on THURSDAY (didn't pay attn to the forcast). I did not cover the tomatoes - 46 plants. I hope they will be okay. What do I look for to see if the light frost got them. I did see light frost yesterday and this morning. Will my corn or green beans be affected? I cannot believe I planted them all!!!!

Now that the cold is over(I hope) I am worried about my flower seeds rotting in the ground due to all the rain. I planted them Friday afternoon.
