Not from seed, sorry. St. Augustine seed is very rare, as most strains of this grass can only be reproduced vegetatively. That's why you can only find sod, pretty much. Seed produced is typical not viable, and seedling populations have been proven to be very difficult to grow.

They're working on it, though! Maybe some day.

My entire front yard produces SEED. My plan is to gather it all this summer and experiment with it. The only problem is that I have to let it grow pretty hight to produce seeds.

Even if you found seed it would not be wise to rely on it. St. Augustine grass would have a very difficult time getting established well enough from seed that far north to survive it's first winter.

Yes, dtauriac, St. Augustine DOES produce some seed, but the valuable, desireable, disease resistant cultivars do NOT reproduce from their seed. As with many unique and special plant cultivars (not just grasses) vegetative reproduction is essential.
