Indian Hawthorne problems

I have a well established foundation planting, group of 3, about 17 years old showing reddening and black spotting on the leaves. Have never seen this prior to this spring. The mirror grouping on the far side of the house is unaffected. Any thoughts?

sounds like a fungal problem, maybe entomosporium leaf-spot. are they in full sun?
see the link below for some more information.
fwiw, i pulled mine out years ago because of this problem.
i was trying to grow them in partial shade/sun and they looked awful.

Thanks, Jeff! You confirmed what I feared. They are in full sun, southern exposure, and have bloomed annually despite their age. This year is just different and suppose it was just bound to happen. But then, it's also the first time I've ever seen some purple thistle in my centipede!
