Funny you should ask. I've been wondering the same thing. I've had 2-3 blooms on a few varieties and that's about it. I know they aren't crowded as some have just been planted in the last year or two or moved. The daylilies are budding and beginning to bloom just fine. Maybe someone will have a clue.

I have a couple of other friends who are also reporting the same thing. I'm not exactly sure why some iris bloom early some mid season and some later. I am assuming it has to do with heat, so maybe the early spring threw things off. I wish I knew of an Iris expert who might know. I posted on the Iris forum, but no luck!

Hey folks, I had a similar situation a few years back. I built a brand new raised bed and swiftly situated 6 or so bearded iris. The following year, all bloomed right on cue. The year after, all but one bloomed. I had heard that splitting can help rejuvenate plants into blooming again, so I dug my bloom-less iris up and no sooner did I plunk my shovel in, that I saw it...the dreaded iris borer. Watch out, you'll never know you have it until you split the rhizomes, and it explained the 'everything was fine up until now' situation. Not suggesting you hack up your plants, but if you're concerned more research might be warranted. I hear borer can be aggressive and spread to other iris plants quickly. Oddly enough that particular iris is gone now of its own volition, it probably died as a result of the infestation despite my best efforts to save it. It's just sort of not there anymore. fyi...borers are really gross compared to most creepy crawlies :)

Thanks, dexterdog. I've been thinking about digging mine and moving some of mine anyway, so will check diligently. Isn't it time to dig and move them? If so, it's supposed to be a little cooler this weekend and it will be a good time to work in the garden!

It's getting very strange nowadays. My mother has a Thanksgiving cactus blooming on her front porch. I know it's a Thanksgiving cactus because I'm the one who propagated it from one of mine several years ago. Mine bloom at Thanksgiving, not in May.

We also grow Easter cactus, but they bloomed a while back. Very different plants.
