Well, I guess the drainage basin for the Cahaba River must harbor more hymenocallis varieties than just the famous Cahaba lily. Nuggs, I'm interested in taking a swamp tour of the Mobile - Tensaw delta. Do you have any recommendations for a tour boat? We've done the Everglades and Okefenokee. We want to do the bayous of southwest Louisiana, Aransas Reserve to see the Whooping cranes and I'd love to do the Great Dismal Swamp in the Carolinas. Would also like to go to the swamp in Arkansas where they recently re-discovered the Ivory Billed woodpecker. BTW, we saw bigger 'gators in Okefenokee than in the Everglades.

Y'all might be interested to know that here in Louisiana,we have an August-blooming Hymenocallis that grows and blooms in the shade! It grows along sandy creek banks, but it transplants well and also is very easily grown from seed, but it takes several years for the seedlings to bloom.
