Perfect day for planting - I wintersow a LOT of plants each year - I've been waiting for the right weather to plant them out, because the heat & drought get to the small seedlings fast. Today I planted out seedlings and moved plants around for about 4 hours.

Long term forecast looks like we may be seeing a bit more rain in the future.

We didn't get a whole lot here -- maybe 1/2" over the past two days -- but watering from the tap just isn't in the same league as real rain. I swear my bean plants doubled in size today, my peppers' leaves turned darker green and blossoms popped out all over my tomatillos.

Next week, back to the hot dry stuff. But I'm glad for what we got.

After about 20 days of upper 90's and no rain, my neighborhood finally got about 2 inches in pop-up thunderstorm. Paid a price even for this though, as it came with what the weatherman called a "microburst" with big winds that knocked down limbs and with dime sized hail. Now my hostas and other plants with big leaves look shredded, and the tomatoes I've been babying and getting ready to ripen got pocked up. Same thing happened a few years ago. I guess again I am just glad I'm not trying to make a living as a farmer the way its been going.

Drew, along with that good soaking you could have gotten a deal on a storage shed (albeit slightly damaged) at the Trussville Lowes. Went by there after work on Friday & they were still cleaning up two of their display model tin storage sheds that had been blown out into Edwards Lake Road during the storm. They more closely resembled big balls of twisted metal, but with a little work......

Sticks & Stuff in Trussville had their roof torn off today.And I mean torn off. Looked like a small tornado hit it.Discounts on furniture this week!
