Rose pin/broach

17 years ago

Not sure if any of you rose lovers can help.

In my spare time I like to try to help find missing people including deceased Doe's.

There's a Doe in Canada, looks like he jumped in front of a train in 1995. He was very young, they figure 20's. He wasn't a typical runaway/homeless person; he liked to be clean shaven, took pride in his looks and was dressed well.

In his backpack, he carried a rose pin. I'm not sure if this is the exact pin, the description says silver but this appears gold to me. They believe he had recently broken up with a woman named Kathy and was probably on his way back east toward where hed come from.

Backpack contents - He carried no personal identification and a search of a knapsack heÂd had in his possession, revealed some clothing and personal items, but virtually nothing to help investigators determine his identity. In his pocket, there was a silver brooch, shaped like a rose, sometimes referred to as "The Christmas Rose".

This is a sketch of the man -

* Fingerprints: Available

* DNA: Available

* AKA: The victim called himself "David"

* The victim was located at the Canadian Pacific Railway crossing at 13th Avenue and Courtney Street, in Regina, Saskatchewan on July 28, 1995.

A then-35 year-old man who believed he had been in the company of the unknown male for a few days helped with the investigation. He described the two traveling together, hitchhiking on July 22nd from Strathmore, Alberta to Swift Current and then to Regina, arriving in the Queen City on July 24, 1995.

The man gave police insights into the habits, moods and mannerisms of "John Doe" and recalled bits of conversation between them. They learned that his neatly cut hair, close shave and penchant for eating with a napkin across his knees probably put him in a social stratum above that of a drifter. He enjoyed Stephen King novels and liked discussing politics. They believe he had recently broken up with a woman named Kathy and was probably on his way back east toward where heÂd come from. He called himself "David" but the person believes that was not his true name. In spite of his recollections, the follow-ups produced no new leads into John DoeÂs true identity.
