Brugmansia

This is a question for the gardener who has a lot of Brugmansia. The frost has now nipped all the foliage and flowers of mine. Should I cut them back to about 12-20 inches above the ground and pile leaves on them? Do you cut back and mulch all of yours? I live in Huntsville so don't know if you are farther south or not. thanks

Yes,
Save the cuttings and put them in water, changing the water every other day.
When they get white dipples, put them in potting soil. NOW

And you can just lay them down flat in potting soil in five inch cuttings.
Cover with potting soil and you will have new ones growing in no time at all.

I cut mine back even lower, to about 6 inches from the ground. I fill old plastic flower pots with chopped leaves and cover the stumps. Around April 1, I uncover them. If ther is a threat of frost after April 1, I just put the pot over them for some protection.

I was wondering the same thing but I'm a little confused. I thought you were supposed to cut above the Y. What do you do when the Y is 5 or 6 feet above the ground?
