How to store onion sets for planting in the fall?

I plant onion sets for scallions only and would like to grow them up to Thanksgiving (it's still mild here in NJ and ground is not frozen). The only problem - onion sets are sold only in the spring, very rare I can buy them in July-August, they are always sold out fast.

How to store onion sets for planting in September-October?

I tried something new last year and it worked real well for me. I filled a one gallon vacuum seal canister with sets and put in a homemade desiccant pack. I vacuum sealed it and stored it in the refrigerator. Whenever I wanted to plant more onions I would take any that had sprouted first, and than the smallest ones. I still had good sets the second week of Oct.

Just ordered fall shipped onion sets from Parkseed.com
They had white red and yellow. Ordered all. I too plant sets for green onion in my sunroom. I get green onions all year this way. Love being able to just pop into the sunroom and get a couple green onions to top a salad or such.
