You can store them there, but there's really no need. If you're planting in two weeks, what's the worst that can happen? They'll sprout! Then, you just plant them.

I always use any sprouting shallots as plant-'ems. Now, if they're all soggy and moldy, pitch them. But, if they jsut have some green sprout - plant-em.

At least with garlic, refrigeration actually encourages them to sprout more than room temperature storage. If the same is true of shallots they may emerge sooner if you refrigerate them. I definitely would not attempt to refrigerate them for more than a month or they would likely sprout and spoil.

Shallots are among the best alliums, storage-wise, staying good up to a year, so they would be fine at room temperature for months.

I don't quite understand; you are in zone 7+ and planning to plant shallots in 2 weeks, ie, mid June???

Are on the southern hemispher?.
