Sounds like chives. They are now in full green in Z 5. In another month a stiff stalk will be sent up with a small ball of tiny blossoms that turn into a very small cluster of tiny bulbs which can be removed and seperated, then replanted. By August, all the greens usually die off and will return in early spring. They do spread everywhere if they are allowed to grow wild on their own. The bent tops are usually the youngest ones that are not strong, or thick enough to grow straight yet. These get harvested right now and have a nice delicate taste that goes well with potatoes, eggs, salads, and anything else that would use a mild onion flavor. They do not keep well and even if dried, lose most of the flavor very quickly. I just made a big batch of Thai food, called Pad Thai and its shrimp with coconut milk, peanuts, chives, rice noodles and fresh cilantro. Mine here, range from the very thin first year ones, to well established ones that can get up to a quarter inch in diameter.
