Hey Token! It's been so long since I planted zinnias, I remember them as not very tall, probably good for containers.
I want to do all my containers and beds with plants I grew this year, and it is going to work out well, except I think I'll need to buy the "trailing, vining" types for my hanging baskets. I want to use my spider plants, with dahlberg daisies for some of the hanging baskets
I'd like to use all of my gerbera daisies in the 4 long green containers on my front porch, OR a combination of gerbera daisies, asters, lemon mint, etc.
In the big wooden boxes beside the front porch: black madras ornamental rice amd double pink cascade petunias, or peach butterfly impatiens, or both!!
So many plants in the containers/pots are coming back, for those that are left, I'm doing pansies and anything I have.
In my long bed out front, I like to do red, white and blue: this year: russian sage, red texas hummingbird sage, and white prairie clover.

They get about 10" tall, and as wide. They bush out and mound really nicely, even without pinching. Grew the melampodium in a 6" pot too, and it stayed a similar size, so they both should do OK in a windowbox.

I'm planning purple and white shockwave petunias, white osteospermum, green cat millet (or bunny tails grass) and maybe some blue lobelia for my windowbox this year. Hopefully.

Thanks pvick. I should have known if anyone knew, it would be you. I need sun loving plants for my windows. And melampodium bloomed all summer and into late fall.
