Ok - I already know the best thing would be to wait till they've finished flowering, but here's the problem. I have a large bed that needs to be amended. I've removed most of the plants and shrubs out of it but my white alliums and Globemasters are in bud and if I remember correctly will bloom in May and June. The trouble is I'm raising the height of the bed significantly and I have all kinds of perennials and shrubs waiting to be replanted in here. I hate to lose the alliums although I'm willing to lose this years blooms. Does anyone know if they would tolerate being moved with a large chunk of soil around them? I can even hold them out for a few days in a plastic bag or pot and then site them back in a similar position so their light isn't different. I keep standing over them trying to decide if I should attack or wait. If I didn't have all these other plants lounging around I would wait but it really needs to get done before the weather gets warmer.

So maybe all I need is reassurance!
