With all the wet weather we had here, some of my garlic is lying flat on the ground. I planted onion seeds and these are OK, but they got into the soil after the heavy rains stopped. I think thats what your'e seeing now.

Nothing major is wrong with your onions, Geezer. It's more growth-related than weather. The early leaves always flop after a certain stage in growth. After they reach a certain point, they are only of marginal use to the plant after newer leaves are developed. Those eventually become the thin outer skins of the bulb. If they didn't develop that way, the onions wouldn't keep long. In short, it sounds like they are really doing well!

As for the flopping garlic, sounds like a major soil problem. 2004 was just a few sprinkles away from establishing a new record for annual rainfall but every hardneck was strong and erect until harvested. Softnecks flopped only when they were fully mature and through growing.
