Moving Austins?

Hi,

I'll be moving in late Jan/early Feb to a warmer part of Colorado. Right now, I'm in a truly Z4 climate, but am able to grow some of my favorite Austins by using winter protection. I'd LOVE to take them with me because they would probably THRIVE in the new Z6 climate, but all save one are planted in the ground.

My question: can I dig them now with any hope of overwintering them in pots, until we move in Feb? Or is it just better to repurchase my favorites this spring?

The plants have been in the ground 1 or 2 summers, but they're big enough that I'm not sure I can get them out of the ground in Feb. Last Feb we had 3 ft of snowcover - not great for digging!

TIA!

Nancy
