Unfortunately, Globemaster (Allium giganteum) isn't hardy where I live. It doesn't survive the false springs here. There are, indeed, other alliums besides onions and garlic.

Leeks, ramps, bear garlic, chives, and Allium cernuum all make pretty additions to rock gardens, and are edible also.

Liliumguy56, seems like you're an alliumguy too! Can you recommend a vendor or two for more unusual alliums? I love seeing them and I have room. I was just given some beautiful little blooming false garlics - they smell like a combination of almond and vanilla - I thought of cookies...
Anyway, big and bold is as appealing to me as diminutive and shy. Thanks for any advice. Maureen
