Full sun in ground vs. part sun, raised beds

I have always planted my garlic in my garden - in full sun - and have had great results. However, I have read that garlic does best in raised beds. It is time to plant my garlic, and while my garden beds need a few hours of work before planting, my one and only raised bed needs about 1/2 hour of work, so I am considering planting my garlic there. Only thing is my raised bed is along the east side of my shed, and only gets sun for half of the day.

So - if you had to choose between regular garden beds with full sun, or raised beds with part sun for your garlic, which would you go with? Both gardens have been enriched with compost and manure - the raised bed is - as expected - a little drier.

Thanks for any ideas!
