I'm not a big grower but I'll take a stab at this. Clip the roots, make sure the bulb is clean and looks nice, maybe take a layer of wrapper off to get some good color. place in a wicker basket. To me that's an attractive presentation.

When clipping the roots use new clippers,leave roots about 1/4"long,brush with a mediumstiff bristle and clip the top about 1" long which makes it easier to pop the bulb and gives it plenty of stem for the wrapper leaves to make a good airtight seal.Size and sell your biggest bulbs in the same basket.You might want to add a little ribbon tied to the stem.Appearance is everything here as you are offering gifts.
