Elephat garlic at grocery store

I just bought a small sack of five big cloves and think I'll plant four of them. It's from an organic source so I know it isn't treated to prevent sprouting and at $1. a clove I thought it a bargain (having passed it up a week ago when I first saw it).

Does it just get treated the same as regular garlic or is there something special it needs. I thought I'd dig a trench about a foot deep to fill with compost and plant it on that which is what I do with regular garlic.
