I grew hardneck garlic this past summer for the first time. I had heard that it doesn't store so well as softneck, but was unprepared for the reality. I harvested quite a goodly amount at the end of July, and almost all of it was spoiled by early October.
Is this typical for hardnecks? We had a very droughty sunny summer here, so poor curing was certainly not the problem. The storage area is not highly ventilated, and I did store a bunch together in mesh bags so perhaps it must be totally seperated.
