Temperatures!

Now I don't think that I'm being whiny because I live in the south and the temperatures rarely reach these extremes, but tonight's low temperature will be in the high teens.

Luckily the majority of my bulbs are well protected in the greenhouse, and with a heater and heat lamp should remain well above freezing. However I do have some bulbs in quarantine growing under screen. I guess I will pile them high with pine straw and cover them in hopes that they might be protected. Some are irreplaceable.

For everyone who will be impacted by these arctic temperatures, stay well. I see it will be in the -50s in Minnesota tomorrow morning. I know we have members there. Everyone stay safe!

It's definitely a nasty one!

It looks like the freezing cold will hit my area starting Monday night. Weather channel is still insisting that *all* of Tuesday will be beneath 32 degrees (28 as the high!!). I just hope the plants in my greenhouse can ride that out with the heater. I really can't remember the last time I've had to run the heater during the day... Man, it has to have been years!

And here I was just thinking I might have to shut my windows and turn the fan off at night, but come summer I'm going to be the one complaining about the weather.

Devon...aren't we just too spoiled? Box will make it soon....you'll be surprised. Sending you something I've not seen on the list...a special home( re)warming after the construction. Please resend addy to my email so I have it handy.

Only got to mid 20s...yay! Inside entryway is packed with large plumeria and some other plants that are really tender. Like a forest...

Hi Kristi, I'm back again! Our problem is rain, rain but not cold. I have brought my baby back indoors and she has at least 1 flower coming. I do however have 2 babies growing alongside, 1 last year and another this year in a pot diameter 8 inches. What shall I do about them?

Hi Jacqui!! HAPPY NEW YEAR....but not so much if your husband is in the hospital...I'm sorry!

Great news that your bulb is happily sending out offsets!! I would move the whole bunch to a larger pot with plenty of growing room. Maybe a 12" pot as that would easily accomodate 3 mature bulbs. They could put on a nice display for you.

It is now -11 here, they ended up closing the plant where I work so they sent me home, it is -40 with the wind chill. We can't get in the van it is froze shut, so we are not going anywhere for awhile, stay warm!
