This is a plant I have. I did not grow from seed though. it is a little slow for me. Eventually it gets real big at the end of the summer then looks kind of ugly and dies off.

Mine is the Silver Mound variety. I bet yours will do fine eventually.

Leaves a little less 'furry' than Lamb's Ear/Stachys? Same color? If so, I believe the one you have is called Artemisia Stellariana aka Beach Wormwood. Great plant for hot well drained sandy soil areas, but will also take rich soil next to big rocks which warm-up with the sun. Great for the front of the border. Also a host plant of the American Painted Lady Butterfly so if you see some nibbling, don't be too quick on the spraying. I tend not to disturb it since it can also have their cocoons underneath.

A bit slow to start, but it will take off. Here it is with Dwarf Sweet Williams and an Admiral Butterfly...

Tiffy, that's the one I have. Beach Wormwood.

I planted 3 clumps in the driest bed I have. Three more went out back in the moon garden, but I'm thinking of moving them now. They will be competing with the brugs and ginger lilies for space. They were planted out at the first true leaves. Those leaves have gotten just a little bit bigger.

You sent me seed tiffy and it germinated really well! But it is still tiny in the ground. I planted it near a nice low dark pink rose and I think it's going to look great. Your picture is making me want it to grow faster!

Mine is still tiny too but I thought it was because of the toad uprooting it and then it being transplantd into another pot when it was just pretty little siver dots. 8-)

I planted a silver artemesia that I got from a trade last spring. This spring it had spread by underground runners.
I dug them up and planted artemesia Powis Castle which gets tall and wide but doesn't spread for me. Powis Castle is a short lived perennial for me and not always easy to find.

I'm fine with having them spread. Anything that grow on this hot dry slope is fine with me.
