I have a couple of Mounbattens in my garden and both can get really big, tall and upright. It does get BS later on in the summer, I don't spray and it certainly doesn't effect it at all. As for the fragrance, both of mine have a pleasant scent but it isn't strong. This is a good rose that does well but I wouldn't say it was unusual. Although it is a floribunda it grows more like a modern shrub. As everyone one has their favorites, Mountbatten is over shadowed by Lichtikonigin Lucia (Queen of Light) in my garden. There is a photo of her on my site under modern shrubs.

Beutiful, beautiful roses. Thanks for sharing and the info.

Eden,
I don't have any personal experience with about Mountbatten, but I do remember reading somewhere (possibly from Roses for Dummies) that Princess Diana chose this rose for her wedding bouquet in 1981. I looked it up online and did find reference to this on englishthymesblogspot.com-that her bouquet was of cascading yellow Mountbatten roses (and other flowers).
Just thought it was interesting. I remember watching her get married on tv while I was packing for my own wedding move just a month later! :0) Phyl
