hybridizing questions

1. can hippeastrum pollen be shipped?

2. can the pollen be stored in the freezer?

3. is there a way to tell if the seeds are viable?

4. what is the best method to start the seeds?

i've only ever made one cross with hippeastrums. i potted the seeds in a pot of soiless mix, with about an 1/8 of an inch over the top of the seeds. they didn't germinate after a few months so i tossed them out to make more room in the greenhouse. i'm not new to hybridization, just new to doing it with hippies. i was planning on using my papilio with some of the others that i have, but i had some rot issues with the other bulbs and they're just now starting to recover. meanwhile the papillio is getting ready to bloom. i store a lot of pollen in the freezer and was wondering if i can do the same with hippeastrum. if not, can it be shipped so i could potentially trade pollen with another member? and before anyone freaks out and tells me to do a search, i did and still am. thanks for any help anyone can offer
