I LOVE LOVE LOVE the fact that thanks to Trudi I have sown roughly 100 types of perennials for well under $100. I literally have seedlings worth who knows how many $100's out there now.

But...but...we have ONE little nursery in town. This guy sells a few perennials, but he doesn't overwinter them. He sells first year perennials in the little 6-pack for $2.35! The cheapest I can find perennials (2 yo at least) at other places is $5 for a 1-gallon. With this guy I get 6 for $2.35. Granted, they are first year, but so are all my seedlings. I've already been able to replace two seed varieties I messed up: Silene orientalis because I dropped the jug, and Monarda 'Panorama Mix' because I messed up the soil. I also got some more blue flax because I either didn't have great germination or the slugs got them. Then I had decided not to WS columbine because I had read they can have erratic germination and I figured I'd wait a couple years for them. Well, there he has a 6-pack of those, too.

I'll be WS for some time to come as I know my beds will be growing in size, but this guy is a pretty good second to WS! I love being able to find perennials at such a cheap price, and I'm more than willing to wait till next year for the blooms. I think it was so nice of him to plan ahead to grow the types I was going to mess up, right?!
