Thuja - Ice Plant is a succulent. It's planted a lot on the coast to protect the cliffs from eroding. It's also
used by some golf courses to drive you nuts if your ball gets stuck in it. Don't tell anybody that you got it from me as I expect it to cause from disaster in WI. Rgds

Update 10/15: 1 4ft Indocalamus tessellatus plant with 3 culms potted that can go down to -10 deg F, 2 small Bambusa multiplex Tiny Fern plants potted for 3 months, 1 2 1/2 ft Ampelocalamus scandens potted for several months. May have some Phyllostachys aureosulcata Spectabilis, Phyllostachys aurea Holochysa, and Phyllostachys nigra Black available in the next few weeks. For people in N.Cal have 3 25-30ft P. bambusoides culms. RGds

oh, if you like ice plants you should check out Hawaiian air plants. Those things are crazy, I brought back 3 leaves from Maui in July and they've already colonized a 1 square foot area!

dwarf whitestripe is still looking good
the 2 I put in ground have not sent out a lot of runners yet, but the plants are healthy. One on my deck I think will get moved to a solarium over winter. Will let you know how they look in the spring.

For those in warmer climes or looking for indoor bamboo plants, just picked up 5 Bambusa vulgaris Vittata plants in a trade. Willing to exchange for ? The plants are 4-5 ft tall, multiculmed, potted for a few months. Min temp is 27 deg F. Rgds

I looked for your trade list to see if there was anything I had that you might be interested in but didn't find one. Are you a one-grass kind of guy or might you be interested in trading for something else. I've only gotten into gardening since Spring so what I have is either pretty limited or pretty small. Take a look at my trade list and see if there is anything that interests you. I would love even just a couple of rhizomes!

Vittata has been gobbled up by a lady in LA. Tried craigslist for the first time and it worked out real nice. Just got some small 5 gal pots of Spectabilis in another trade, about 3 ft tall, 2-4 culms each plant. What have you got? Rgds

Now that the ground is wet (really wet - +20" of rain) I am starting to prune and divide my bamboo. I have made divisions of my S. japonica Arrow, Y. anceps Pitt White,
P. nigra Black, and P. bambusoides Madake. I will hold most of these for at least 4 weeks to get them thru transplant shock and may hold them until spring. If you have interest, send me an email. Rgds

Bad deal - People are not paying for bamboo sent and people who I held bamboo for until spring have crapped out on me. No more holds and no shipment until I get paid upfront. I prefer to trust folks but it seems like only a fool does so.

I've only recently started seeing this advertised around here and the couple of growers I've spoken to say it's just too early to know if it will really remain dwarf (under 20 feet) down here. Do you know anything about this one?

That's a bummer. I've been burned a couple of times, too, but I'm sure with your high volume and generosity that you've been stiffed a lot worse than me. It's unfortunate to have to have that policy...but totally understandable.

The young nigra has lost just about all of its leaves. It has graduated with the nitida from the garage to the deck. The nitida is starting to branch/leaf out on the taller culm. Given the rhizome structure on this one, it should take off soon. No change yet on green onion. My wife hasn't gone off the deep end yet, so I guess that means I can get more at some point.
