How tall is the clump in the photo? It appears to be about one meter in height. What do the culms look like? How large are the individual leaves?

Kt

The specimen in the photo was planted from a 8" pot about 6 months ago,it has multiple culms(lots),and they have a fuzz on them, the older speciman culms were not unlike D.brandisii.The plant in the photo is less than a meter tall. The leaves would be no more than 5-6 inches long.

It does strongly resemble my D. brandisii, especially when I first put it in the ground. It grew very bushy but was not quite as dense as in your photo. It also slightly resembles D. asper, which also grows as a bush here.

The leaves are always about 5 to 8 inches long except on the taller culms, where they can grow to 18 inches or more, long, and over 3 inches wide.

Brandisii is a very fast grower, but it freezes here each Winter. I don't know what your low temps are during the colder months, but if you never see temps below 32F, and if it is brandisii, it will grow very large in just a couple of seasons.

Good Luck

Thanks Kt,
I dont think my plant is available in the US,it is extremely rare here in OZ,i got it from a guy who imported it but lost the id tags.I would love to know what it is ,but i cant think of any other way of id'ing it.I guess it will remain Dendrocalamus sp. for a while.
Cheers
