My builder uses Houzz Pro to plan the timeline and give detailed estimates and daily updates with photos of progress, and provide invoices at pre-agreed key points in the build. This made the whole experience much more efficient and stress-free.
It appears to be quite hardy. I do have mine where it gets some protection from those cold northers, and it gets full sun at the top of the plant.
I'll have to double check, but if I recall correctly, it has been in the ground for three years. It has been the slowest of all my Bambusas to produce culms. Only two culms for the first two seasons, but four last year.
It has the longest internodes of any of my Bambusas and does reach size quickly. The culm in the photo is about two inches thick. Sometimes late in the evening, the culms look very blue,...a beautiful sight.
It got down to 15F here, and several times into the low 20's and it has done fine, only showing a little leaf burn, but always water it well before a freeze.
It's almost 40 feet tall, so you will need some room for it to grow, but it does grow very erect and has very straight culms.
