Hi Blanca, Your 'Rainbow' is outstanding, that said, if you had said it was 'Aphrodite' who out there would question it?? Here is my Aphrodite from this year, and I cannot see the difference. Thank you for posting yours, and I will assume my Rainbow is indeed a Rainbow!!

Hi Donna,

You are correct, short of DNA analysis, I cannot be certain that my bulb is actually Rainbow. Unfortunately, I did not photograph Aphrodite when she was in bloom. However, if memory serves, I do recall there being signicant differences between the blooms produced by the two hybrids.

I promise to take a photo of Aphrodite for comparison when she wakes up from her winter slumber and blooms again. Just to further complicate our deliberations, here is a photo of Aphrodite from ETGB. Do you perceive a difference in petal shape?

I have found Aphrodite and Double Record to be very variable in color depending on lighting and condidtions.

Greetings Blanca, I've been going back and forth to the ETGB photo and the differences I come up with are that the petals don't seem as frilly, and the picotee doesn't seem as prevalent, and several petals have a rounder look, but the rest seem pointy. What was your observation??

One thing I forgot to mention was that the pedicels on my Aphrodite's first scape were over 6 inches long!! The second scape wasn't nearly as long but still longer than usual. The pedicels on my Rainbow are normal, 1 1/2".

I thought that Aphrodite's petals shape were more slender and long, rather than triangular, wider at the base shape. Here's my Aphrodite:
