unstable clump - uprooting

The combination of wind and a ton of rain has caused one side of a mature clump to be unstable and almost uproot. The soil has become really boggy; you can penetrate it without any effort with your hand. It is on a slope too so gravity isn't doing it any favors. But it has done quite well for 4 years so this is new and unexpected. We have had this weather before but perhaps there are more culms now and resulting stress as they are blown around up top by the wind. Any ideas on how to stabilize? To shore it up or relocate would be very difficult as there are quite a few culms.
